His revelations during the Panorama program were followed by 23 million viewers and created a “domino effect” which would have led Diana to become more and more isolated from the Royal Family until her death. At the time, Harry and William’s mum first spoke of her “crowded marriage” with Carlo again in love with Camilla. Not only that, she confessed that she had suffered from postpartum depression and had battled bulimia.
Years later, thanks also to the intervention of William and Harry, the BBC discovered that that interview was extorted from Diana. The princess was deceived by Bashir who showed her gods fake documents to get her to talk in front of the cameras, making her believe that she was under control and that Carlo was having an affair with his children’s nanny. The interview, for a long time, has been the subject of heavy criticism from William and Harry who have always considered that event among the causes of Lady Diana’s death.
“Our mother died for this. And nothing has changed”, explained several times the husband of Meghan Markle who moved to the United States just to prevent such an event from happening again. William also criticized the broadcaster with great determination: “It brings an indescribable sadness to know that the failures of the BBC have contributed significantly to the fear, paranoia and isolation that I remember from those last years with her,” he revealed. Now Diana’s children they will finally have justice.
In fact, the radio and television publisher has announced that it will donate 1.75 million euros to charity, i.e. the amount earned by selling the rights of the famous interview with Lady D worldwide. As revealed by the Daily Mail, the BBC has already made contact with the Royal Family who will choose which charity to pay the money to. In the choice, of course, Harry and William will also be involved, who in this way, perhaps only in part, will find a bit of that justice they have long been asking for for their beloved mother.
