William and Kate at Euro 2020, George has grown up and rehearses like a king
The 2020 edition of the European Football Championships was an extraordinary success. After the initial postponement (the edition should in fact have been held in the summer of last year, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic) the enthusiasm has soared, involving millions of fans. The final sees Italy and England compete against each other at London’s Wembley Stadium: it is a home game for the British team, raising the expectations of the fans even higher. For the occasion the Queen Elizabeth shared through the Royal Family’s official Instagram channel a message of “good luck” for the British national team, full of sincere gratitude and admiration.
“55 years ago I was lucky enough to attend the World Cup at Bobby Moore and saw what it meant for the players, management and support staff. reach and win the final of an important international football tournament “, wrote His Majesty, and then continued” I want to send all of you my congratulations and my family, for reaching the final of the European Championships, and send you my best wishes for tomorrow with hope that history can record not only your success, but also the spirit, commitment and pride with which you have behaved“, he added.
Once again, the Queen has shown her closeness to English (and not only) culture and traditions, showing her more intimate and human side. The 1966 World Cup, which saw England triumph over Germany (with a result of 4-2 in extra time), took place at London’s Wembley Stadium.
However, it is not the first time that the British Royal Family has expressed its support for the national team. Wednesday, when the team beat Denmark, Prince William shared a message to congratulate. The latter closely followed the matches of Euro 2020, witnessing England’s victory against Germany together with Kate and little George. After the game, William and Kate’s Twitter account posted a shot of the trio enthusiastically smiling and applauding from the stands. Even the prince, therefore, seems to be a true football fan.
