Lady Diana, the men she loved
The Prince William spoke of an “indescribable sadness” about the investigation that showed how the BBC has operated a real deceiving her mother, Lady Diana. A wound that continues to reopen and which, with the new elements that emerged, confirmed how Diana was the victim of deceptive behaviors that affected her fears.
William had already spoken on the matter at the end of 2020, when the investigation was still ongoing and there was no certainty. Now things, however, are different and the man, who was then only a child, has decided to tell ITV News, commenting harshly:
“BBC employees lied and used fake IDs to get my mother’s interview, made obscure and false claims about the Royal Family, which they played on his fears and fueled paranoia. (…) They showed painful incompetence when investigating complaints and concerns about the program and were invasive in their reports to the media and they hid what they knew from their internal investigations. “
As reported by the Daily Mail, Lady Diana was the victim of a real plot against her, with the sole intent of force her to reveal Carlo’s betrayals. That interview made by Martin Bashir in 1995 for the BBC caused a scandal and attracted one to the Princess amount of criticism such as to crush his fragile soul. What revealed the investigation conducted by Lord Dyson is unbelievable: the journalist, then semi-unknown, extorted those statements from Diana with documents, which later proved to be false.
William’s words are those of a furious son, who in the last years of her life saw a mother no longer radiant, but deeply shaken and increasingly unhappy:
“It is my opinion that the deceptive way the interview was obtained has substantially influenced what my mother said. (…) The interview was an important contribution to make my parents’ relationship worse and has since hurt countless others. (…) It brings indescribable sadness to know that the BBC’s failures have contributed significantly to its fear, paranoia and isolation, which I remember from his last years with her. “
Also brother Harry who, like William, was small when his mother Diana underwent all this and who saw with his own eyes his deep sadness and his decline he wanted to have his say:
“Our mother she was an incredible woman who has dedicated his life to service. She was resilient, courageous and unquestionably honest. (…) The ripple effect of a culture of exploitation and unethical practices ultimately took her life. (…) Our mother he lost his life because of this, and nothing has changed. By protecting his legacy, we protect everyone and uphold the dignity with which he lived his life. Let’s remember who he was and what he represented. “
After all, it is no secret how much the subject is dear to Prince Harry, who has supported and continues to support his wife Meghan Markle precisely in its legal battles against the tabloids, accused of spreading fake news.
The BBC has made its “fullest and most unconditional apologies” to the Royal Family and the Spencer family for the conduct of Martin Bashir and the unfortunate cover-up only now unveiled. after 25 years. But there is little use for excuses when there is a life involved. No one will be able to return their mum to William and Harry. But maybe they will finally be able to give it justice.
