William and Harry they inaugurated together the statue of Lady Diana on the day their mother would have turned 60. During the ceremony the two brothers seemed to have found the harmony of the past. But apparently it was all appearances, Harry left right after the ceremony and now it’s up to Kate Middleton take action to remedy.
William and Harry were the only members of the Royal Family present at the ceremony honoring Diana. With them were present their maternal uncles, Count Spencer, Lady Sarah and Lady Jane. The statue, which is inspired by the 1993 Christmas card, wants to celebrate the activity carried out by the Princess towards the weakest and children.
The Queen was not there, she went to Scotland, leaving the grandchildren free to remember their mother, in total autonomy. Prince Charles was obviously not present at the ceremony, which was transformed into a “private event” instead of the grand celebration, originally planned and postponed to September due to Covid. According to the Daily Mail, it was Harry who insisted on a small-scale event to avoid being subject to the morbid curiosity of the media, thus controlling the media coverage.
While Kate Middleton preferred to desert the celebration to allow the two brothers to have a face-to-face without third inconveniences, although she officially took a step back to give her place to another guest.
Apparently the strategy seemed to have worked, William and Harry were relaxed, exchanged jokes, even smiles. But, as the Daily Mail reports, no real confrontation has taken place between the two Principles. After the ceremony and away from goals, Harry had a drink and after only 20 minutes he left Kensington Palace.
The Mail reconstructed the meeting between the two brothers. Harry arrived by car 45 minutes before the ceremony, drove to the private apartments where William and Kate Middleton live. To welcome him was not his brother but James Holt, former press officer of Kensington Palace. Before the event, the two Princes were together for only 10 minutes, then walked the avenue towards the statue of Diana, surrounded by her favorite flowers. They collaborated in removing the cloth that hid the sculpture, Will turned to Harry and asked him: “Hello?” And together they unveiled the work.
The two brothers then released a rare joint statement: “Today, on what would have been our mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, her strength and her character, qualities that have made her a positive force around the world, changing countless lives for the better. Every day we would like him to be with us again and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of his life and heritage ”.
After the ceremony, those present were invited to drink a glass of champagne on the terrace. Harry stopped just long enough for a polite drink and 20 minutes later he was seen exiting the gates of Kensington Palace with a relieved expression on his face.
Therefore, no real interaction took place between the two brothers. And now sources close to the Royal Family believe that only the intervention of Kate Middleton could resolve the matter. He is convinced of it Paul Burrell, Diana’s historical butler, who sees Kate as the right intermediary because she has experienced firsthand what happened between them and knows how things are.
Lady Middleton met them when they were united and supported each other, continues Burrell, and was there when a gulf was created between them. “She was always there between the two of them. He knows that William wants the situation to be resolved, also out of respect for the will of Diana who wanted them united. She was very proud that her boys were members of the royal family and wished they would continue that way, I think there will be a role for Harry in the future when William becomes king. “
