Monopoly
Let’s start with the most classic of the classics: Monopoly, the most famous bargaining game ever! You can play from a minimum of 2 people to a maximum of 8 and it is a board game much loved by adults and children: it is very simple and this is precisely what makes it a ideal pastime and recommended for the whole family. Inside the box you will find a board with different boxes, each of which is divided by color, courses, streets and buildings; you will also notice three other very special boxes, such as prison, contingencies and probabilities, in addition to that of the “Via”. The game also includes six pawns, two dice, contract cards, miniature houses and probability and contingency cards.
How to play? The rules are really very simple and intuitive: you start by choosing the player who will also cover the role of banker and who then distributes the money, along with 5 contracts distributed to each participant without a specific order. It then continues with the roll of the dice, who will decide the player who must start the pawn: if it stops on free land, the player can choose whether to buy it or not, but if it is someone else’s property, he will be required to pay the toll. The game proceeds, therefore, between purchases, tolls, bargaining and unfortunate visits in prison, which no player can escape: the winner is the one who is best able to manage and make their finances pay off, inevitably bankrupting the other participants. Monopoly is a perfect board game even for the little ones and recommended for ages 13 and up.
Risk
In Risk each player fights to defend their territories and conquer neighboring ones. It is therefore a strategic board game that dates back to 1957, when the French director Albert Lamorisse invented a game he owns today. several versions and which at the time was known as La Conquête du Monde. The game begins when each participant draws an Objective card: usually each of the cards requires the conquest of certain territories or, more simply, the elimination of an army. The focus is therefore on the conquest of ben 24 territories and keep at least 18 of them occupied with two of your armies. This undoubtedly implies the destruction of all armies of different colors, so as to take home all the territories in play.
Inside the box you and your friends will find a colorful scoreboard representing the world and divided into 6 continents: North America, South America, Oceania, Africa, Asia and Europe. Then, you will notice that each continent is itself subdivided into other territories. For the development of the game, there are also a series of Goal cards, small tanks of different colors and for each player and six dice, of which three blue and three red to indicate defense and attack. After having distributed the Objective and Territory cards as per the regulations, together with the tanks, the game can begin: the highest roll of the die determines the player who will go first, with the objectives of reinforcing their armies, attack the opponent and, of course, conquer new areas.
Cluedo
And of Cluedo Have you ever heard of it? It is the party game for adults and children perfect for an aspiring detective, whose aim is precisely to formulate the perfect accusation by revealing the murderer’s weapon, location and name. The game includes a game board depicting the potential places of a terrible murder, 6 pawns representing potential killers, weapons reproduced to scale, a series of cards representing the rooms, weapons and suspects, 2 dice and, finally, an envelope in which to put the solution of the match. Each player chooses 3 cards: one of the suspects, one of the rooms and one of the weapons and puts them back in the envelope being very careful and making sure that no one has taken an extra look.
After that, the dice are rolled and the challenge is started: each participant proposes to formulate a hypothesis regarding the circumstance of the crime. All players must undertake to deny the theories espoused by their opponents and to do so they must show, in turn and in secret, a card that contains one of the elements named by the hypothesis. The player convinced that he has solved the case is then required to formulate the accusation and deliver it in the envelope: if the hypothesis is correct, he will have won. Otherwise, he will be permanently disqualified from the game. A fun game even for children and perfect for a family afternoon!
Taboo
Taboo is a family, cultural and forbidden word board game, which follows very simple rules and fun at the same time. The peculiarity of the game lies in the fact that there is no maximum number of participants: anyone can join the game, at any time! The division into two opposing teams, which will clash amicably to guess the word present on a given card: in turn, one draws one on which is shown a word in red that corresponds to the object or action to be made to guess by the rest of your team. There is also one set of words in black that must not be mentioned in order to arrive at the solution: all this to make the game even more fun and exciting. You move on the board by as many squares as you can make your companions guess, obviously within time set by the hourglass. It is almost obvious to say that whoever reaches the last box wins.
Beetle
Beetle is the Italian version of the so-called Scrabble: a board game for adults and children invented by Alfred Butts and distributed in the 1930s, which does not differ much from our Scarabeo. This involves using a chessboard really very particular because of its composition: a square with seventeen squares on each side, some of which are considered special because they can double or triple the scores. In the box there are also 130 tiles represented the letters of the Italian alphabet and other jokers, but with a greater number of vowels based on the frequency with which these can be found in Italian words. The game begins when each player draws 8 letters from a bag and tries to compose a word, possibly not invented and it will be these to establish the score obtained. At the end of each round, the participants draw from the bag a number of letters equal to those used.
The second player, on the other hand, must in turn compose a word, however, intersecting it with one of the letters present on the board and, therefore, with greater difficulty. The game obviously continues the same way until all the letters in the bag are drawn and the players have finished theirs. How are wild cards used? It is very simple: they constitute a kind of lifeboat, considering that they can replace any letter. The score is calculated based on the number present on each card and, logically, the most used letters will have a lower value than those rarely used. The purpose of this game it is obviously to obtain a maximum score once the letters of the bag are finished and it is ideal for stimulating the imagination in all its forms.
