Lady Diana, the life and death of the Princess of the People
Lady Diana and Carlo they would celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, if things had turned out differently. The two were married on July 29, 1981 in St Paul’s Cathedral, the same choice by Kate Middleton and William. But their union was destined to last only a short time and the greatest regret, the deepest crisis is still experiencing today Harry.
The wedding of Charles and Diana is considered by royal experts, including Joe Little, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, as “the wedding of the century”, followed by 750,000,000 spectators on TV and a crowd of 2,000,000 jubilant people among the streets of London. Not to mention the number of crowned heads invited and the splendor of the wedding banquet at Buckingham Palace.
And then Diana’s wedding dress, made to her taste by Elizabeth and David Emanuel, valued at 9000 pounds. It was made of ivory taffeta, decorated with lace, hand embroidery, sequins and 10,000 pearls, not to mention the kilometric train.
The ceremony was not flawless, the spouses made mistakes in formulating their promises, almost a prophetic sign. And Diana was the first royal bride not to take the vow of obedience to her husband.
Despite all the pomp, the marriage lasted just 15 years. Charles and Diana divorced in 1996 after a series of betrayals (by both), psychological suffering – the Princess attempted suicide while pregnant with William to attract her husband’s attention – and spite. They were not happy years, indeed already during the honeymoon it was clear that theretheir union was hopeless.
40 years after that fateful yes, what remains? Rivers of ink on the love triangle between Carlo, Camilla and Diana, relics, such as the wedding dress or the slice of wedding cake put up for auction just in these days for the “modest” figure of 500 pounds, a real treat for collectors.
And then of course bitterness and regret, especially of the second son of Charles and Diana, Harry, who among the various accusations launched against his family, pointed the finger in particular at his father for having made him suffer as a child with his behavior.
For some years Harry has wanted to tell in public the deep crisis experienced with the separation of his parents and the premature death of his mother, who disappeared in a car accident on 31 August 1997, therefore just a year after the divorce from Carlo. A pain that marked his life forever and that perhaps led him today to vent his anger against the Royal Family and the court system.
The consequences of these years of grudges have been seen with the Megxit. Now the tension between the Prince and his family is skyrocketing and it will be difficult to reach a reconciliation. According to reports from the Express, Harry is going through a deep crisis, especially after learning that several members of the Royal Family are putting pressure on the Queen to permanently oust the son of Charles and Diana from the Court, taking away all the noble titles.
