Kate Middleton, Alessandra Rich’s houndstooth dress
It is a very special trip, what it is Kate and William they have plans for the next few days: the tour of Scotland will bring them back to the place where it all began, 20 years ago. Together, the Dukes of Cambridge will visit St. Andrews University, where their love was born.
The occasion is a short institutional journey, which to tell the truth has already begun. Friday 21st May, Prince William presided over the opening of the Annual General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, acting in the place of Queen Elizabeth II. Since being appointed Lord High Commissioner, he has been representing the Sovereign at the annual synod of the nation’s leading church. His commitment is to keep the opening and closing speeches of the Assembly, while the rest of the time will be able to deal with other meetings on Scottish soil.
Alongside William, Kate Middleton will also soon arrive. The Duchess is expected in Scotland on Monday 24 May, when she will be reunited with her husband for the rest of the week. One of the stops will be St. Andrews University, where both studied: exactly 20 years ago, they met in his classrooms and soon a beautiful friendship was born, which in the following months turned into a great love. That love that, in 2011, led them to a gorgeous wedding, whose anniversary was celebrated on 29 April.
Kate and William will therefore return to the place that saw them fall in love, and they will have the opportunity to meet students to talk with them about the difficulties encountered during the pandemic, how they supported each other and coped with the emergency. Several other important events are also planned for the Dukes of Cambridge: during their short tour in Scotland, they will meet NHS rescuers (the British health service) and they will attend a special screening with them in a drive-in cinema, while William will invite them to watch the Scottish Cup final.
For their first official trip to Orkneyin addition, Kate and William will tackle the delicate issue of climate change and will personally see some of the most innovative projects that aim to protect the environment. Together they will also meet the members of Fields in Trust, a charity dedicated to protecting green spaces across the UK: the Duke of Cambridge has supported the association since 2013, succeeding Prince Philip in the role of president.
