Lady Diana, the men she loved
Lady Diana was the victim of a scam. She was shown false documents by journalist Martin Bashir to force her to give the famous interview to the BBC in which she told about Carlo and Camilla and her life at court.
According to what was reported by the Daily Mail and taken up by the international press, therefore against Diana it was plot a conspiracy to force her to reveal Carlo’s betrayals. At the base of the 1995 interview that caused a scandal is a deception. The Princess, who was then harshly criticized for those statements, actually found herself forced, almost threatened on the basis of documents that proved to be false.
Rumors about possible fraud committed by Martin Bashir had already circulated some time ago, but have now been confirmed by an investigation conducted by Lord Dyson. The false documents, some bank statements and alleged espionage initiatives attributed to the Royal Family, were shown by the journalist to Diana and her brother, Count Spencer to increase resentment and indignation and thus push the Princess to tell about Charles and the then his mistress Camilla.
The falsehoods with which he deceived Diana and in fact also her brother allowed Bashir to obtain what was considered the interview of the century for which he also received numerous awards, but which was also what distanced Charles and Diana even further and accelerated their divorce. And with the end of her marriage, the Princess lost her title of Royal Highness and her rights to court. Only two years after the interview did he die in a tragic accident under the Alma bridge in Paris.
The BBC addressed its “more complete and unconditional apologies”To the Royal Family and the Spencer family for Bashir’s conduct and the subsequent cover-up which lasted 25 years.
Diana’s confession was very famous in the 1995 interview: “There were three of us in my marriage“, Referring to the clandestine relationship that Carlo had with Camilla. The Prince did not hesitate to call his lover already during the honeymoon.
“Martin Bashir – the BBC’s deputy director of news, Jonathan Munro, announced to the staff of the broadcaster – has left his position as head of religious news on the BBC and also leaves the Corporation. He informed us last month, before returning to the hospital for yet another heart operation ”.
BBC Director General Tim Davie has written to the Royal Family to apologize and is taking steps to return all the awards given to that interview.
Diana’s friends have said that that interview led to her death, they are convinced, as reported by the Daily Mail, that the Princess would still be alive if there hadn’t been that meeting with Bashir.
In the investigation of Judge Lord Dyson we read in reference to Count Spencer who was induced on the basis of false documents to organize the meeting between the journalist and his sister: “Mr. Bashir deceived him and induced him to organize a meeting with Princess Diana. By gaining access to Princess Diana in this way, Mr. Bashir was able to persuade her to agree to release the interview. “
Already in 1996 there was an investigation into a possible scam against Lady D, but it was bankruptcy. Last year under pressure from the Spencer family, the BBC opened another independent investigation to clarify how Bashir managed to get the Princess to talk about her unhappy marriage to Charles. It has now been proven that it all depended on false documents presented by the journalist.
Bashir reacted with a press release apologizing. While the Count Spencer who has struggled to obtain transparency, together with his nephews William and Harry, anticipated the conclusions reached by Lord Dyson on Twitter.
