Funeral of Prince Philip, the Royal Family dressed in mourning
One of the new doggies of Queen Elizabeth is dead, so refer sources close to His Majesty. The puppy would have died between 15 and 16 May. So, a new mourning for the Sovereign who, after the death of her husband Filippo, on April 9th, had found some comfort among her four-legged friends.
Fergus it was a dorgi puppy, that is a cross between a bassato and a corgi, which was given to Elisabetta by her son Andrea while Prince Philip was hospitalized last February. According to rumors reported by Hello!, The Queen remained particularly affected from the loss of her little dog.
In fact, Elisabetta, who for years now had decided not to take new dogs to the Palace, due to advancing age and to prevent them from surviving, welcomed the arrival of the puppies with joy in a particularly difficult moment, when her husband Filippo was ill. And after her death, several times, she was photographed walking the dogs in the gardens of Frogmore, so much so that their company seemed to be the only relief and the only reprieve from the pain of the loss suffered. Which is why Fergus’ sudden death hit Her Majesty hard.
So last March Elizabeth welcomed two puppies, which she called Fergus and Muick, in honor of his Scottish ancestry, inherited from the Queen Mother.
Fergus derives from Fergus Bowes-Lyon, the Queen’s deceased uncle, and Muick’s name from Loch Muick, which is located on the Balmoral estate. Muick, unlike Fergus, is a corgi.
Corgis are the Queen’s favorite dogs, as she is known, who received her first puppy at the age of 18. In 2018, the last two survivors of a long dynasty, Whisper and Willow, were missing. While last December, just before Christmas, he had lost Vulcan. Currently to keep Elizabeth company are Muick and Candy, a dorgi.
News of Fergus’ death circulated soon after it was learned that the Queen traveled to Balmoral. Buckingham Palace did not comment the demise of the little dog.
Elizabeth usually moves to her Scottish home in August, so the staff were alerted ahead of time to make sure everything was okay when Her Majesty arrived early.
Likely, Elizabeth will be staying at Craigowan Lodge, a seven-bedroom stone house generally assigned to the Queen’s friends and family during their visits to Balmoral. Probably, the Queen would have preferred to stay in a smaller house, so as not to miss her husband too much.
