Eugenie of York pregnant with first child
The official message of the Princess Eugenia in memory of his grandfather, Prince Philip, who passed away on 9 April 2021, one step away from the milestone of 100 years that he would have completed on 10 June.
The words of the niece Eugenia shared on Instagram along with two tender photographs, remember him affectionately:
Dearest grandfather, we all miss you. You would have been moved by all the tributes that have arrived in the last few days. People remember sitting next to you at a dinner, or shaking your hand once, they remember you greeted them and how important the DofE Award was to them.
The DofE Awards cited by the Princess, is a prestigious award established in 1956 by Prince Philip, designed for young people and to promote the integration of young people in the social life of the country. The Duke was in fact very involved in humanitarian causes.
Eugenia’s message continues:
I remember learning how to cook, how to paint, what to read. I remember laughing at your jokes and asking to know about your incredible life in the service of the Navy. […] I remember your hands, your laugh and your favorite beer. I will remember you in your children, in your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Thanks for your dedication and love especially for the grandmother, we will take care of her.
Eugenia of York (recently become mother of little August), is the sixth granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Philip of Edinburgh, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. His message joins the chorus of condolences towards his missing grandfather. It makes the amused and affectionate memory of the Duke of Edinburgh, who all in all looked like any grandfather to the eyes of his grandchildren. Certainly his extravagance did not go unnoticed, his jokes and gaffes are still in everyone’s memory.
Eugenia will almost certainly also attend the limited funeral ceremony of the Prince Consort, which will be held next Saturday. It will not be a state funeral and only about thirty close members of the Royal Family will be present, but it will still be an event that will come followed around the world indiscriminately, through live television in England and online streaming.
