Is called Archie Miller-Bakewell and was Prince Philip’s personal secretary for more than 10 years. Very little is known about him and there is only a small number of his photos. But one thing is certain, it is the man who knows more than anyone else the most hidden secrets of the Duke of Edinburgh. And consequently of Queen Elizabeth.
The relationship between Bakewell and Philip was so close that the man had the honor of being among the 30 people who will be able to attend the funeral service in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 17 April. The Royal Family in fact had to comply with the anti-contagion rules and foresee a small number of participants in the rite and among these there is precisely the secretary of the Duke.
Archie Miller-Bakewell has always lived in the shadow of Philip, as mentioned, the information about him is very limited. In 2019 Rebecca English, an expert on real affairs at the Daily Mail, claimed that a source close to the Palazzo described him as an old-school, and charming guy, who was privy to every aspect and secret, even embarrassing, of Elizabeth’s husband. For example his passion for UFOs, confirmed by Bakewell in a letter.
In the summer of 2019, Philip was fascinated by reading The Halt Perspective, a book that examines the events that occurred in December 1980, when US military personnel stationed at RAF Woodbridge investigated strange lights that had appeared in a nearby forest. In a letter Miller-Bakewell wrote of the Prince: “I am sure it will be read with great interest during the summer.” Then received another book on the subject, Haunted Skies: The Encyclopedia of British UFOs Miller-Bakewell commented: “His Royal Highness will add this copy to his collection.”
Archie Miller-Bakewell started working for the Duke of Edinburgh in 2010, quickly becoming his most trusted assistant. Miller-Bakewell represented the Prince in numerous events he could not attend. He was in charge of managing his agenda and organizing his public events until the Duke retired to private life in 2017.
Although the list of participants at Philip’s funeral has not been disclosed, it is believed that Miller-Bakewell will be the only one not part of the Royal Family present at the ceremony.
Due to the pandemic, the subjects were asked to follow the funeral procession on television. Not even Boris Johnson will be there to give his place to a member of the Royal Family.
It is believed that at the funeral there will be in addition to Queen Elizabeth, Charles, Camilla, William, Kate Middleton, Harry (Meghan Markle will not be there, she remained in Los Angeles), the other three children of their Majesties, the Countess of Wessex, Eugenia and Beatrice of York with their respective husbands, Zara and Mike Tindall. The funeral procession will begin at 14.45, London time, and will be followed on foot by some members of the Royal Family including the Prince of Wales, the coffin will be taken to St George’s Chapel where the funeral will take place.
