Orange zone, what changes for hairdressers and beauty centers

From 12 April almost all of Italy passes to the orange zone, as announced a few days ago by the Ministry of Health which sent the ordinances.

Based on the numbers of infections that emerged from the last monitoring, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Lombardy, Liguria, Marche, Molise, Piedmont, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria and Veneto are found in this area and to the autonomous provinces of Bolzano and Trento.

Currently only Campania, Puglia, Sardinia and Valle d’Aosta are in the red zone.

The transition to the orange zone represents a small but significant relaxation of restrictions, with the possibility to move freely within one’s own municipality and to visit friends or relatives once a day.

But it is also a long-awaited moment for the reopening of a series of activities, including the so-called personal services (hairdressers, barbers and beauty centers) which with the latest measures are closed in the red areas.

So what changes for them? In the orange zone hairdressers and beauty centers reopen to the public, however, following the guidelines issued by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità to minimize the risk of infections.

Below is a summary of the measures, as reported on the Ministry of Health website:

• The activities must be carried out exclusively on reservation during which the type of treatment required must already be indicated in order to optimize waiting times
• Areas must be provided for the technical waiting phases, such as the application of the color and separatory barriers in particular for the washing areas
• It is also necessary to provide for a minimum distance of at least 2 meters using alternating stations and to sanitize the rooms every day
• The use of masks is mandatory both by the staff and by the customer starting from the entrance to the room
• In beauty centers it is necessary to provide alternative treatments to those that usually involve the use of steam, just as saunas, Turkish baths and hot tubs are prohibited.
• During the beauty treatments the cabin panels must be closed
• All equipment must be disinfected with hydroalcoholic or chlorine-based detergents
• It is essential to guarantee shifts between workers and their training on the use of PPE
• In addition to surgical masks, visors or face shields are also recommended for beard and face care.
• As far as the premises are concerned, it is recommended to keep the doors open and eliminate the recirculation systems for both heating and cooling.

It is important to underline that on the basis of the travel limitations provided for by the decree, it is possible to reach these establishments only if present in the territory of their Municipality of residence or domicile.
