Also there maturity 2021 it will be under the banner of Covid and therefore in a “reduced” mode to limit as much as possible the contacts and stay in the same environments of a large number of people.
In recent days, the Ministry of Education and the trade unions met to discuss the measures to be taken to be able to carry out the exam safely and define a common protocol. The official response, as reported by the Corriere della Sera, should arrive on May 21, but already in these hours the main guidelines have emerged that students and teachers will have to take into account.
The new protocol should roughly follow the one adopted last year, during which the written tests were suspended and the exam was carried out in the form of an oral interview in person.
Therefore, also for the 2021 maturity, the student who will have to take the exam will arrive at the school 15 minutes before the convocation, will be accompanied by only one person who will be able to attend the test and will have to leave immediately after the interview.
The use of masks it remains mandatory for everyone, but the use of certified devices is envisaged (and not the so-called “community” masks that were allowed last year). According to the new protocol, it will not be necessary to purify the rooms or a particular ventilation system. To sanitize the classrooms, a thorough cleaning will suffice.
One of the hypotheses that had circulated in recent days concerned the possibility of carrying out quick swabs or salivary tests in the hours immediately before the exam: according to what emerged, this idea would seem set aside because, since these tests are a snapshot of a specific moment, it would be necessary to repeat them several times during the various stages of the exam.
Just like last year, if a student should be positive on the day he should take the exam, he can ask to take the interview electronically or move it. In this case, he will have to provide medical certification justifying the absence.
One of the possible innovations that could be introduced in the new protocol concerns the vaccines, which last year still weren’t there. The examining commissioners could in fact postpone the administration of the second dose at the end of the exam sessions and the teachers in the commission could have the possibility to connect remotely if they had just been subjected to the recall.
At the moment, we remind you, these are only hypotheses that will have to be discussed and approved by the Ministry of Education and by the trade union parties.
