May it will be the month of the restart. Or at least these are the intentions of the government, which is betting everything on next month to kick off reopening of activities until now remained closed throughout Italy regardless of the areas.
On Friday, April 16, the control room will be attended by Prime Minister Mario Draghi together with the majority forces to draw up the calendar of the next moves, which should be followed by a press conference to announce the measures that will come into force with the next decree.
The intention is to loosen the anti-Covid measures with a certain gradualness and with a differentiated plan according to the progress of the infections and the vaccination campaign. Thus, according to Corriere della Sera, the first to reopen will be the restaurants for lunch, then the entertainment venues and in a third moment gyms and swimming pools.
But what does the government program specifically envisage? Let’s see it together
Restaurants when they reopen
One of the governors’ goals is to have the yellow zone, currently suspended, and that travel between yellow regions is again allowed. A hypothesis that could already be realized with the new decree, therefore from 1 May. The Regions are also pushing to reduce the hours of curfew and allow the premises in the yellow areas to remain open for dinner, taking advantage of the mild temperatures and the possibility of welcoming customers outdoors. This second hypothesis, however, is less feasible at least for the moment: it is more likely that one decides to wait and allow the opening for dinner only after the first phase of reopening has taken place and its effects have been observed.
The government’s calendar broadly foresees a month of gradual reopening, to arrive at the end of May with various open activities. The first to reopen, as mentioned, would be bars and restaurants, for which, however, the rules would be particularly stringent, especially for those indoors. The idea is that customers can only be welcomed seated at the tables and that between them there is a distance of two meters indoors and one meter in the open air.
When gyms and swimming pools reopen
Gyms and swimming pools would open later, not before mid-May. Also in this case the Scientific Technical Committee has already fixed the rules on the distances to keep: two meters in the gym, ten square meters in the pool. In a first phase, however, the green light could only be given to individual training.
Cinemas and theaters, towards the reopening
The opening of cinemas and theaters is now certain, for which we are moving towards a lightening of the measures and an expansion of the number of seats to be occupied allowed. The Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini has drawn up a new protocol together with the Cts. Also in this case, from May things should change, allowing, in the Regions in the yellow zone, the extension of the maximum capacity of the indoor venues from 25 to 50 percent of the total seats, with the limit of spectators set at 500 instead of 200. In arenas and outdoor places the maximum threshold could go from 400 to one thousand.
