There are those who have already packed their bags for the holidays. There are those who anxiously await the moment of posting to go on vacation. For everyone, even for those who stay in the city, there is still the need to have them available the small “cabinet” of medicines transferred to a ready-to-use container, in case of need.
And then, also on the basis of the advice of Assosalute, we try to design the composition of a ready-to-use “kit” to always have available, also remembering that it does not matter how much you take with you but also how you store your medicines correctly.
The first rule is the simplest: remember that it is always useful to have the original packaging, and therefore always have the package leaflet at hand to be able to store and take them correctly. Another fundamental warning: if an ailment persists for a few days or worsens after a few days, even on vacation, you should always consult a doctor.
Skin, intestines and more
Given the exposure to the sun and the risks associated with the presence of insects, remember that the epidermis must be protected. They are useful emollient creams to protect and nourish the reddened epidermis, while to relieve burning and cleanse the skin in case of burns, it is better to take local anesthetic and antiseptic drugs with you. To promote skin regeneration, they can be used drugs based on hyaluronic acid while in the case of sunburn it is possible to use ointments that help fight inflammation and relieve itching.
Chapter mosquitoes and the like: in addition to repellents to be used in a preventive key, it is useful to bring with you creams based substances with antihistamine and anesthetic action in the case of insect bites, present in the hot season, especially in wet areas, without forgetting cotton balls and hydrogen peroxide to remove – with proper care and attention – any stings.
It is also important to have available, among others, small pain medications, therefore with anti-inflammatory and analgesic action, those for sore throats and those to help the intestine to regain its rhythms in case of “laziness” or to cope with sudden diarrhea, as well as to keep the medicines that they help to counteract acidity and heartburn related to diet changes. Obviously then it is necessary to have the classic first aid for wounds, cuts, sprains and the like, or disinfectants, plasters, good and ointments to counteract any small bruises.
Watch out for the storage of medicines
If these rules are of great help for small eventualities, for those who must have medicines available as they need targeted treatments, it is better to keep in mind some simple rules. First of all, the storage of tablets, tablets and more must be done with care, especially if the temperatures rise or fall a lot, since this parameter can affect the effectiveness of the therapies.
To properly store drugs, it is important to read the package leaflet which not only contains all the information necessary for the correct intake but also indicates the methods of storage. If storage in the refrigerator is not required, it is advisable to avoid that the drugs are exposed to a temperature above 25 degrees. For this reason, it is advisable to remember not to leave drugs exposed to the sun, as can happen in a car, and at too low temperatures: if you are traveling by plane it is better to keep the kit in your hand luggage, since in the hold the climate is much colder. .
Furthermore, humidity could affect medicated capsules, tablets and plasters. For these reasons it would be preferable to keep the drugs in preferably thermal containers. In any case, it is essential to always check the expiration date if the drugs are not new but taken from the locker at home, pay attention to their appearance and if they appear different than usual it is best not to take them and contact a pharmacist or a doctor.
