Unfortunately, one of the most frequent pains and especially in us women are leg pain: here are the possible causes and solutions to solve the problem.
Leg pains: the possible causes
Of pain in the legs there are an infinity of them and of different types.
There is the dull and light pain, which is a little annoying but is bearable. There is the heavier and more suffering one that does not even allow you to walk. Then there is what is due to heaviness, swelling and lack of circulation. And again, the one that calms down with a little rest and finally what comes for a life that is too sedentary. So, depending on the type of pain, there can be different types of causes.
In most cases, they can be grouped into three main groups: vascular affections, muscular affections and joint affections. We see below all three groups.
Vascular affections
Among the possible causes concerning vascular diseases are thevenous insufficiency and the varicose veins. Venous insufficiency occurs when the valves in the veins (which allow blood to pass from the feet to the heart) are blocked. This causes pain in the legs, then swelling, cramps and a sense of constriction.
If the venous insufficiency is mild, it does not lead to further problems, if it is more consistent, it can lead to skin redness or ulceration at the calf or ankle level. Varicose veins, on the other hand, consist in the appearance of superficial veins in the legs.
Useful remedies? The most recommended are therapeutic, elastic graduated compression stockings and the anti-fatigue gel to be applied on the affected area. In some cases, thermal water therapies are the most effective remedy that is recommended.
Muscle affections
Among the main causes we find the cramps and the muscle contractures. Cramps are a type of involuntary, acute, prolonged contraction of a muscle that usually occurs in the calf and quadriceps. Muscle contractures, on the other hand, are shortenings of a muscle caused most often by intense physical activity. As remedies, you can use anti-inflammatory and pain relieving creams.
In some cases where the pain is more dull and there is also stiffness in the muscles, the cause could be found in the little known pathology called fibromyalgia. The most useful and effective remedies are stretching, massage, aerobic physical activity, brisk walking and heat.
Joint affections
Among the possible causes are the tendinitis, the sciatica and the arthritis. Tendonitis is inflammation of the tendon that occurs as a result of more acute pain. It can be treated with heat, rest of the part and with NSAID anti-inflammatory drugs. Sciatica is usually caused by a compression of the nerve roots at the level of the lower back. It can be anti-inflammatory with NSAID anti-inflammatory drugs for oral or topical use. Finally, arthritis concerns the inflammation of one or more joints and based on this, there are different types.
In cases where the pain in the legs persists and is in an acute phase, without resolving thanks to topical remedies, it is good to consult your doctor. In this way, depending on the problem, he will be able to prescribe the most suitable therapy for the disease.
