The summer months are those of lightness and unfriendliness in the diet. This does not mean that we are allowed not to take care of our health and our body. On the contrary. It must be one more reason to do it attention to what you bring to the table, without falling into dangerous temptations but also enjoying your holidays to the fullest.
Unfortunately, as it is also easy to imagine, health does not go on vacation. This is the case, for example, of the metabolic syndrome, which must be kept under control through an accurate and targeted diet, which changes case by case. However, the cornerstones of the diet indicated for people with this disorder are common: reduction of fat intake and introduction of good proteins, such as those of fish that should be consumed at least 3 times a week.
In the context of a healthy nutrition, however, it is also necessary to pay attention to other behaviors that we could normally consider harmless, first of all theadding salt to dishes. This aspect must always be kept under control, but in particular in cases of metabolic syndrome.
This pathology, which affects one in four people, represents a risk factor that should not be underestimated as it can lead to strokes, cardiovascular diseases and even quite severe vascular diseases. Reducing the amount of salt in dishes is possible and necessary, especially when health requires it. And yes, even in salads. Yogurt, oil, lemon, herbs and spices are valid allies to reduce sodium intake, just as recommended by theWHO.
However, summer is also a time for relaxation and a few exceptions to the rule. According to experts, in fact, there are foods “enemies” of the diet that can instead be introduced into our diet in a different way, paying attention to raw material of which they are composed. This is the case, for example, of ice cream, which can be consumed with some tranquility as long as it is of good quality and meets certain characteristics.
This food, therefore, can be taken even if we are on a diet. On this subject, he spoke to us there Dr. Valentina Schirò, a biologist and nutritionist specialized in food sciences, who admits this food in a balanced diet but in compliance with some fundamental conditions.
First of all, the advice is to carefully choose the product, preferring artisanal products to industrial ones. In addition, ice cream should not be considered as a substitute meal but as a snack or as dessert to be consumed after a meal. To limit the caloric intake, in addition to the quantities that must be moderate, it is also necessary to choose the taste according to your palate, preferring however fruit-based preparations.
Attention also to the frequency of consumption, which must not be excessive. We recommend a maximum of 1 or 2 times a week, for a maximum of 100 mL per serving. The ingredients must be of the highest quality, an aspect that should not be underestimated if we want to introduce ice cream into our diet.
