Also for this year, on the day of April 22 (date of birth of the Nobel laureate Rita Levi Montalcini) is the National Day of Women’s Health, wanted by Athena Woman Committee together with Ministry of Health, an important occasion to put i issues related to women’s health.
«The National Day this year must be the occasion for deliver a strong message, which reaches all women, reminding them of do not neglect the prevention agenda and to perform the screening exams recommended for age groups, despite the difficulties that this moment entails »underlines Carla Vittoria Maira, President of Atena Donna.
In addition to the problems related to the increase in the burden of social and family responsibilities that many women have had to face, in fact, the current pandemic situation has made much more difficult also the execution of the usual prevention procedures regarding health in general and women’s health in particular: “consequently, many women may discover that they have a disease in a more advanced stage, and many others will have had to postpone a necessary treatment or will not able to carry out regular check-ups – Carla Vittoria Maira continues – The relative data is extremely worrying to oncology, cardiovascular health and to other pathologies such as diabetes, which since the beginning of the pandemic have recorded a steady decline in access to diagnosis and treatments ”.
Not surprisingly, the message chosen for this edition is #CONCENTRATED ON YOUR HEALTH, an invitation supported in the video messages produced with the contribution of several prominent exponents of the Italian scene, and also present on the bracelets commissioned, as in previous years, at women in prisons, through the Made in Carcere association.
