Who before and who after we have all had problems with the skin, from small imperfections to acne spots to the signs of aging. To improve the skin and restore vigor and elasticity, there are different types of specific treatments, from do-it-yourself to more professional ones.
The dermaroller is one of these: let’s see below what it is and how to use it.
Dermaroller: what is it?
The dermaroller is one of the latest innovations among the aesthetic treatments dedicated to the skin of the face in the beauty field. Also called microneedling, this is a roller equipped with a rotating head with many small needles whose job is to make holes on the face. The needles can be of different sizes, there are from 0.1 up to 0.5 millimeters.
By making small holes in the skin, the dermaroller creates a kind of inflammation, otherwise known as micro-perforations, useful and necessary to stimulate the epithelial tissue repair.
The benefits of the dermaroller
To put it more simply, therefore, the dermaroller serves to encourage and produce more collagen, indispensable for the epidermis because it keeps it more beautiful, young and elastic. But that’s not all: inflammations allow the skin to absorb serums and lotions more quickly, thus allowing them to act deeper.
The result? A younger, more elastic and revitalized skin, thanks to an effective tool, which is able to fight the spots and scars caused by acne.
Dermaroller: how is it used?
The mechanism that regulates this tool is very simple but characterized by several essential steps.
First, you have to disinfect the tool with alcohol, leaving it in a bowl for about 10 minutes and then let it evaporate in the air. As a second step, you have to wash the skin thoroughly making sure to use a mild detergent, preferably not foaming. Then, if you use needles larger than 0.1 millimeter, it is better to also wipe the alcohol on the skin to disinfect it.
The third step involves using the anesthetic cream in case small needles are used. After this step, you can proceed with the use of the dermaroller. It can be used both vertically first and then horizontally or vice versa, starting from the forehead area and then proceeding from top to bottom, but avoiding the periocular and nasal areas. A good tip is to repeat the same zones a total of five times.
As a last step, it’s good apply a serum based on hyaluronic acid or vitamins. The only precaution you need to have is to stop the treatment immediately if the skin is too red or bloody.
