Have you already made the much-hated or loved change of season? If the answer is no, then go ahead and take the opportunity to do some decluttering: let’s see below what it is and how it works.
Decluttering: what is it?
Decluttering, which translated literally means “eliminate what clutters”, is a very widespread practice especially in recent years but which, thanks to its philosophy, has literally depopulated all over the world. It consists in eliminating all that is superfluous in your home, all those objects that are no longer used and that should be thrown away for some time but are postponed every time. And as it is superfluous and therefore useless, it only takes up precious space that could be used in another way, with new things for example.
Obviously this practice does not only concern the wardrobe and clothes, but also kitchen utensils, various objects, sheets and towels that are ruined and that are not used, etc., in short, everything that is superfluous in a house and that without it would be better lived.
The key concept around which decluttering revolves is in fact to eliminate the superfluous for aim for the indispensable, what is really needed. This does not mean that we should make a selection between what we like and what we don’t like anymore, but rather apply the motto “Less is more”. The purpose is aim for a better quality of life, trying to simplify it both materially and emotionally speaking.
Clothes and superfluous items take up space in our apartments and consequently, they tend to occupy and fill our lives as well. It takes time, energy and very often financial availability for all of this. On the contrary, if instead we did decluttering in our home and in our life, these would be considerably lightened, thus using the time and effort saved in something more stimulating and important.
How does it work?
The mechanism on which decluttering is based is “eliminate – make room“. It is not that difficult to free the shelves, shelves and doors of the wardrobe, but it takes discipline and perseverance to get started. At the beginning it will certainly not be a walk to deprive yourself of objects you are used to, but with a little effort and proceeding in small steps, the courage will come.
Once you start, you will also enjoy it because you will begin to breathe and see things differently. For example, we will think about how we can reorder that freed space, what we can buy new or we will have the energy to dedicate ourselves to some new initiative. Of course, you will notice that the quality of life will improve dramatically.
The important is do decluttering daily, so as not to find yourself throwing everything away at once with the risk of going into crisis and losing sight of good intentions.
Finally, last tip to follow is what to do with deleted items. There are two alternatives: if they are in good condition, you can give them to charity or to someone they need, or if they are irrecoverable, the only solution is to dispose of them in the best way.
