There’s no holly or jolly way to put it: There’s a lot of terrific stuff leaving Netflix at the end of the year. Thanks to just about every major studio now having its own streaming service – HBO Max for Warner Bros., Peacock for Universal, Hulu and Disney+ for Fox and Disney – the Big Red Streaming Monolith is nowhere near the monolith it used to be in terms of its library. That said, it won’t be a completely blue Christmas according to the service’s latest update of new arrivals.
Honestly, if you’re looking for libraries of theatrical releases and stuff outside of Netflix, you’re better off snagging a subscription elsewhere at this point. (HBO Max has a quietly outstanding collection.) But at least there are the Originals – the savior of these regular streaming updates.
