How Many Seasons Of Frontier Have Netflix Cancelled?

It looks like Netflix is leaving the wilderness. Frontier star Jessica Matten recently revealed the TV show has been cancelled after three seasons. The historical drama, which airs on Netflix in the U.S., centers on the rough and often violent North American fur trade of the late 18th century.

During a recent episode of the podcast Canadians Talking Sh*t, Matten revealed Frontier will not return for a fourth season despite earlier reports. Netflix has not yet confirmed the show’s cancellation. Would you have watched a fourth season?

Who Confirmed The Cancellation Of Frontier?

Cancellation of Frontier confirmed by Discovery Canada We had previously reported that the Jason Momoa fronted Frontier would not be coming back for a fourth season based on comments made on Instagram by Sokanon actress Jessica Matten, but there was no official word from Netflix or Discovery Canada…until now. Responding to a fan question on Twitter, Discovery Canada made it official. Hi there, unfortunately #Frontier hasn’t been renewed for season 4!

When Was Frontier Season 3 Released On Netflix?

Ever since Frontier Season 3 was released on Netflix in November, Jason Momoa fans have been anxiously waiting on word for a fourth season. Although fans will have a chance to see Momoa in plenty of other projects, including Apple TV+’s See, fans took to social media to express their disappointment over Frontier ending. It’s always welcome to see Momoa try out different roles, but damn.

Although Momoa teased that Season 4 is gonna get dark via Instagram on Jan. 26, there was never any word from Netflix or Discovery Canada on the show’s future. Frontier being cancelled is really [disappointing]..I loved that show and I hate not knowing how the stories of each character end. How Many Seasons Has Netflix Allegedly Canceled Frontier?

Netflix has allegedly canceled the Jason Momoa-led television series Frontier after just three seasons. What’s on Netflix reported that the historical drama about the North American fur trade of 1700 Canada did not get an order for a fourth season. The series was the first show Discovery Canada has produced that was featured on the streaming giant and has been low key one of the best-underrated shows Netflix has in its extensive library even being nominated for several awards.

The show is an action-adventure that follows the story of its central character, Declan Harp (Momoa), a half Irish-half Cree outlaw who is on a quest to extinguish the conflict within the region. Even though Momoa said last January that Frontier‘s season 4 was on the way, other cast members have tweeted otherwise. Jessica Matten, the actress who plays Sokanon shared in an Instagram post that the show would not be returning for a fourth season.

Even with Frontier‘s demise, Jason Momoa has still a full plate, with the actor being in numerous projects being part of the DC superhero universe and with the likes of the upcoming sci-fi series See on Apple and another Netflix show called Sweet Girl. Netflix has yet to formally announce the cancelation of the series even with the cast seemingly open to say it out publicly. There is still a chance that the streaming platform can catch the show and fully take on the reins of its production, having rescued shows like Lucifer from cancelation before, but these are just speculations at this point.
