What Anime Will Be Streamed In The United States On October 13?
Film’s BD/DVD release launches in Japan on same day Netflix announced on Thursday that it will stream Kyoto Animation ‘s Violet Evergarden: The Movie anime in the United States on October 13. Kyoto Animation delayed the film’s release on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in Japan from August 4 to October 13, due to issues with production and manufacturing because of the state of emergency declared in Japan (including in Kyoto prefecture). The film was was originally slated for a January 2020 opening in Japan, but was delayed to April 2020.
The Japan Academy Film Prize Association for excellence in film nominated the film for Animation of the Year for its 44th annual awards this year. Netflix has listed the Violet Evergarden: the Movie anime film for an October 13 release. You can set the reminder in the ‘Coming Soon’ section on their website and app, and it will premiere globally. For one reference, the film made over 2 billion yet within the first 3 months in Japan. Some of its awards included the TAAF 2021 Anime of the Year Award and the Kyoto Digital Amusement Award. The film opened in Japanese theatres on September 18, 2020, and it was in the top 10 grossing films for 9 consecutive weeks.
The film was re-released at seven Dolby Cinema locations in Japan starting on November 13, 2020.
