Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, ‘Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula’ is the second installment in the zombie horror franchise. It follows a soldier as he leads a team to the zombie virus-infested Korean Peninsula to retrieve a truck full of money. The premise is notably different than the first movie in the movie series.

“Peninsula was a post-apocalyptic film that focused on the car chases,” he said. “The story that I’m thinking about after that would be closer to Busan, where the story will be carried out in a small and restricted space.” At that point, Sang-Ho hopes all three movies will connect together like a true trilogy.

How Long Has It Been Since Train To Busan Presents: Peninsula Debuted?

✖ It’s been over a year since the sequel to Train to Busan, Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula debuted and while filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho currently has a new series, Hellbound, that just debuted on Netflix it seems like a third Train to Busan film isn’t entirely of his mind. There are a lot of ideas I’ve been tossing around but I personally think that for Train to Busan, I would like to continue that as a film series, Sang-ho said. Sang-ho also said that he’d take a similar approach to a third film as he did to Peninsula.

So in terms of the genre, you could say that it’s between Train to Busan and Peninsula. Currently, a third film in the Train to Busan series is not in the works, but you can check out the synopsis of Hellbound below. The upcoming Train to Busan Remake will be titled The Last Train to New York, and is set to hit screens in 2023. The upcoming remake of celebrated South Korean zombie flick Train to Busan has now been confirmed to be titled The Last Train to New York. Along with the new title, Deadline have also revealed that the movie has also now been given a release date of April 21, 2023, meaning that there is still a little while to wait before seeing how Warner Bros.
