Netflix Revisites Netflix’s Never Have I Ever Season 3

Prepare for more love triangles. Netflix has renewed its young-adult-themed comedy Never Have I Ever for a third season. The renewal comes a month after season two of the series, from co-creators Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, premiered on the streaming giant.

Jaren Lewison and Darren Barnet star as Ben and Paxton, respectively, the love interests for Ramakrishnan’s Devi. “I don’t know how long it will go. I’m happy to work on it as long as they’ll pay me.

With teen shows, everyone is 45 and you have to graduate from high school. I do think the love triangle will be significant for the run of the show.” (Listen to Fisher’s full interview here.)

Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young co-star in the comedy, which counts John McEnroe as its narrator. The series hails from Universal Television, Kaling’s former longtime home before she moved her overall deal to Warner Bros. TV. 3 Arts’ Howard Klein and David Miner also exec produce.

Whether she’s making the wrong choices or, at the very least, attempting to do what she deems best, she slips up nonetheless.

As much as we would love that, Devi can’t make a mess of her relationships that quickly. When Netflix announced its complete list of new release movies and shows for August, Never Have I Ever season 3 was predictably not among them. By that metric, we should be expecting news on Never Have I Ever season 3 (as well as Virgin River season 4) sometime in August. Considering Never Have I Ever first premiered on Netflix in April then followed up with its second season in July, we should tentatively pencil in season 3 for a release sometime between spring and summer 2022.

Never Have I Ever… gotten a Season 3 until now! Netflix has renewed the coming-of-age comedy from co-creators Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, the streamer announced as part of its presentation during the virtual Television Critics Association summer press tour on Thursday. The series stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Devi Vishwakumar, a first-generation Indian American teenage girl juggling high school, boys, friends and grief.

But Paxton surprised her, showing up at the school dance to take their relationship public. At the same time, Devi’s other love interest, academic rival Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison), learned that Devi had been all-in with him, but her friends talked her into going after Paxton instead. In addition to Ramakrishnan, Barnet and Lewison, the returning cast includes Poorna Jagannathan (as Devi’s mother Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar), Richa Moorjani (as Devi’s cousin Kamala), and Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young (as Devi’s best friends Fabiola and Eleanor, respectively).
