With The CW’s In the Dark about to hit the airwaves, you’ll probably watch thinking how realistic the portrayal of the story feels, but is In the Dark based on a true story? It turns out — not so much. One is a work of fiction about a blind woman who witnesses a murder, and the other is a disturbing true story about a man tried for the same crime six times.
The show follows Murphy Mason (played by Perry Mattfeld) who is apparently the only witness in the murder of a friend, Tyson, who once saved her from a violent mugging. But by the time the police arrive the body has disappeared, leaving Murphy to try to convince them that she really did find him there. She does all of this while working a job she hates at Breaking Blind, a school for guide dogs that her overprotective parents own, and still manages to do the whole dating thing.
They didn’t cast a real guide dog because a real guide dog would be confused by multiple takes. When I repeat it’s because he made an error. They did hire blind actress, Calle Walton — who, according to Entertainment Tonight, they discovered during a visit to a school for the vision impaired and cast in a supporting role.
Pretty cool. You’ll hardly miss the fact that In the Dark isn’t based on a true story — especially with Pretzel (who’s real name is Levi) as Murphy’s amazing guide.
Who Created The Cw’S ‘In The Dark’?
Created by Corinne Kingsbury, The CW’s ‘In the Dark’ is a crime-comedy series that follows a blind woman named Murphy who is cluelessly navigating her life while working at her overprotective parent’s guide dog school. Her friends Jess and Tyson are very special to her as they always have her back, irrespective of the troubles that she may be facing. But one ordinary day, Murphy’s small world falls apart when Tyson is murdered, and despite her repeated appeals, the law enforcement agencies remain inflexible and are not interested in looking into the case.
In case you are wondering the same, we have got you covered. The story of the show’s conception is a fascinating one. Over the years, The CW has used its platform to raise awareness about numerous social causes with the support of its philanthropic arm, CW Good.
In one of the meetings, Lorri Bernson, a GDA graduate, gave a moving description of the impact of her guide dog on her life and the importance of GDA as an organization. CW executives were present in the meeting, and her story planted the seed for the show with a blind woman as the protagonist. One of her deepest desires with the crime comedy-drama series was to give the world a women-centric show in which the protagonist was not necessarily perfect but was vocal and assertive.
I had never even set foot in a guide dog school before this show, now I go all the time. When the team was quizzed about the decision, Lorri Bernson, the show’s consultant, said, “If I were to repeat what I just did, even three or four times, when I repeat it’s because he made an error.” She also added, “He would slowly break down because he did not know what he was doing wrong.”

What Is The Name Of Netflix’S New Supernatural Thriller?
Looking for another thriller after binge-watching the second season of Stranger Things for the second or third time in a row? Netflix has answered our prayers, with a new 10-episode supernatural thriller hailing from Germany, appropriately named Dark. If you’ve already dived in, you may be wondering if it’s based on a true story.
Considering the series is based on children disappearing without a trace, relationships being tainted and broken, and secrets being revealed, it all sounds like the perfect plot for a fresh take on a classic horror movie. The series was shot in Berlin, and in an interview with Radio Times, writer Jantje Friese said, It’s a fictional town. We deliberately wanted that because we didn’t want to color it with a specific Bavarian or northern German setting.
Not only does this town just happen to be surrounded by the Black Forest, but said forest has been dubbed as one of the most haunted forests in the world. Coincidence? Supposedly.
Sounds innocent enough, but the original folklore has a ton of dark, eerie, and even gruesome undertones. Remember when the witch boiled the children alive and ate them?
How Old Is Hilde Lisko In Home Before Dark?
In Home Before Dark, the latest drama to hit Apple TV+, Hilde Lisko is a journalist determined to solve one of her town’s greatest mysteries. And Hilde? She’s 9 years old.
The addictive new series released its first three episodes Friday, and EW spoke with showrunner Dana Fox about how the show came to be. Joy Gorman did, and she is an extraordinary producer and a longtime friend of mine. Then this little 9-year-old girl stood up and she was accepting this award for being a disruptor, because she had scooped her local paper on a murder, and everybody in her hometown had given her hell for it.
They both have such an incredibly strong work ethic, and that they never give up. To me, what was so emotional as an adult female was watching a younger person go through the kinds of stuff that you, as an older woman, go through at work. You get told to sit down and shut up, and you don’t know what you’re talking about.
What was it like balancing a real story with obviously some creative license? That’s the other thing about the show that I love. We always said, You have to be able to pull the mystery out and have the family show work, and you have to be able to pull the family out and have the mystery work.
How did you guys get Jim Sturgess, who’s so amazing in this role? Casting the father was incredibly difficult, because we knew that we didn’t have a show unless we had Hilde, so went there first, and we were lucky enough to get Brooklynn, but then we thought about trying to get the dad, and it’s a really interesting thing, not a lot of men wanted to audition with an 8-year-old girl. We had a really, really hard time getting people to audition, but Jim he had zero issues with it.

He would slowly break down because he did not know what he was doing wrong.” Perry Mattfeld, who plays the shows main character Murphy, who is blind, is not visually impaired herself.

A synopsis on the site reads: “A meditation on obsession and loss, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark chronicles the unrelenting path of a mysterious killer and the fierce determination of one woman to bring the case to light.” Who Was The Golden State Killer, aka the East Area Rapist?

How Many Murder And Kidnapping Charges Did Joseph James Deangelo Plead Guilty To?
Every part of the Golden State Killer’s case is gruesome and fascinating. Here’s what you need to know about the case, and why Michelle McNamara is such a big deal. Who Was the Golden State Killer, aka the East Area Rapist?
Initially when he began raping his victims he avoided houses with large dogs or husbands. As if to prove he was paying attention to the endless reports about him, the EAR started to target couples later in his crime spree. He would bind and blind these couples before stacking dishes atop the man.
Most true crime writing falls into one of two categories. McNamara’s writing never fell into these traps. It rarely turned these criminals into heroes or antiheroes as often happens but always kept the victims and survivors front and center.
Sadly, as praised as McNamara’s book is, it was never supposed to be released in the manner it was. What Is I’ll Be Gone in the Dark? That’s the name of McNamara’s book.
The Golden State Killer reportedly said to one of his victims, “You’ll be silent forever, and I’ll be gone in the dark.” Was the Golden State Killer Ever Found? Roughly two months after the release of McNamara’s book Joseph James DeAngelo was arrested.
Earlier this month it was reported that DeAngelo would plead guilty to 13 murder and kidnapping charges and just as many rapes.
