Opening Shot: Two friends are in the house of the male friend’s mom. When a light fixture goes out, a maintenance man tries to fix it but gets a shock. The female friend helps him stay alive, and the other one — who isn’t quite as on the ball — goes in the ambulance with him.

The Gist: We’re introduced to five friends who have known each other for over 20 years, since their first days of medical school. An Jeong-won (Yoo Yeon-Seok) is a pediatrician at KWMC, along with Kim Jun-wan (Jung Kyoung-Ho); both are very dedicated to their jobs, not the least of which is trying to reassure scared parents that the procedures they recommend for their children are the right way to go. We’re introduced to them in various ways, though the most interesting intro is when Chae has to find someone to do a liver transplant for a patient whose mother also has to deal with her mother’s brain tumor.

They’re all willing to sign up, especially for the increased salary, but Seok-heyong holds out. He wants to get the band back together. Literally.

Our Take: The 82-minute first episode of Hospital Playlist (new episodes drop every Thursday on Netflix) was an interesting mishmash of genres. But then, after we’ve spent almost an hour getting to know everyone, along with some of the people in their lives, all of a sudden they’re playing in a band! The brother says “Just wait another year,” and we flash back multiple times to the same table, and Jeong-won saying yet again that he’s done being a doctor.

Why Did Hubby And I Binge Watch Three Seasons Of The Good Doctor?

Credit: Amazon Prime Video UK/YouTube Agnes Dominique: Why we binged on three seasons of The Good Doctor and two seasons of New Amsterdam: For some bewildering reason, and as I simmer with disgust over the recent Commission on Audit (COA) reports, I have somehow developed K-dramanorexia. So hubby and I found ourselves binge-watching three seasons of The Good Doctor (US version). Most of the characters did show growth over three seasons, some more, others less.

We would rate this show lower than The Good Doctor, but we were equally hooked because the characters and their personal drama and interrelationships were compelling enough. Pilut Montes: I normally binge-watch Korean, American, British, and a bit of Spanish series when I get overfatigued with the ones I usually watch. I like Korean series because of the unpredictable plot, cinematography (it’s like watching a movie already), musical scoring which brings out so many emotions, storyline which is very relatable since Koreans have values similar to those of Filipinos, and last, the good-looking lead stars who act so naturally.

Every time I watch an episode of Reply 1988, I am made to feel that I am part of the show I like both Hospital Playlist and Reply 1988 because I can very much relate to the theme, relationships between family and friends.
