What Is The Fifth Fictional Series In The Degrassi Franchise?

For the show’s final season, go to Season 4. Degrassi: Next Class is the fifth fictional series in the Degrassi franchise, and succeeded The Kids of Degrassi Street, Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi High and Degrassi: The Next Generation. Like its predecessors, Degrassi: Next Class follows a group of students at Degrassi Community School who face various challenges of teenage life, from sexual awakenings and gender identity to current social issues like racism, religion, social media, and teen pregnancy.

Following this, the producers sought out other means to distribute the series and later made a joint deal with Netflix and Family Channel (the latter which is owned by Epitome Pictures parent company, DHX Media). Like its predecessor, the characters change to follow the real-life transitions in high school. With Next Class, some episodes have the plots follow a common theme.

The first four seasons of Next Class featured a rearranged 7th version of Whatever It Takes composed by Jody Colero, Jim McGrath, Stephen Stohn, Rob Wells, and Shobha. The show follows the same format on Degrassi: The Next Generation where characters either leave the show due to an event or graduate. The third and fourth season would then introduce an actor and an actress to play Syrian refugees, a major storyline within the third season.

After years of speculation, Degrassi: Next Class has been confirmed it will not be returning for a fifth season on Netflix. This was already pretty much expected but the official confirmation means that it’s now set in stone that there will not be season 5 of Degrassi: Next Class. It’s been two years since the last season of Degrassi: Next Class last premiered with season 4 touching down onto the streaming service on July 7th, 2017.

‘Degrassi: Next Class’ is a show about teenagers in a high school and that is exactly what the plot delivers. It depicts teenage in an extremely relatable manner, although for your sake, I hope you did not do as many drugs as some of the characters on this show. The series is incredibly soapy and tends to overdramatize a lot of things.

If you are looking for progressive liberal stereotypes, this show has it all. This is a bit maddening, but perhaps inevitable, seeing as the writers have to juggle with so many characters and their intent is to keep the tone of the show light, while also pushing certain problems into focus. There are also characters who storm out of classes because some boy does not like them, or call people their boyfriends after one kiss.

Perhaps in some cases, the show becomes a little unbelievable with the level of drama, but what can one do, when most of these teenagers face more problems in a day than I did during my entire time in high school. The season looks set to graduate a large chunk of the cast off, in fact this is the largest graduation class since all the way back in Degrassi High. Everyone in the ending shot of the trailer should be the ones graduating, including Tristan, Miles, Maya, Grace, Zoe, Jonah, Goldi, Winston, Esme, Tiny, and Zig.
