What Is The Name Of The New Spin-Off Anime Series Based On The Cyberpunk 2077 Universe?
CyberPunk 2077 developers CD Projekt Red recently announced a new spin-off anime series based in the CyberPunk 2077 universe. The show, titled ‘CyberPunk: Edgerunners’ will be premiering in 2022. It will be made by Studio Trigger, the studio behind the popular anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The Anime series will be directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi. Some other shows by the director you may know about are Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill. The team behind the series will also consist of creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi, character designers Yoh Toshinari and Yuto Kaneko.
An exact date of the series is not revealed as of now, but fans will still have a long wait until 2022. The development suggests that despite the troublesome launch of the CyberPunk 2077 game, the developers are looking forward to expanding the game’s universe with the new series. This could perhaps in the future, lead the way to another sequel to CyberPunk 2077.

What Is The Name Of The New Anime Based On The Cyberpunk Universe?
CD Projekt Red previewed new Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay in its Night City Wire livestream on Thursday, and also made a surprise announcement. In partnership with Netflix and Studio Trigger, CD Projekt Red will produce a new anime based on the Cyberpunk universe called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. While taking place in the same universe as the game, the series will feature new characters and and a new story.
Over the 10-episode story, he will become an Edgerunner — an outlaw mercenary. Fans know Studio Trigger for anime like Kill La Kill, Promare, Darling and the Franxx, and Little Witch Academia. Hiroyuki Imaishi of Kill La Kill and Promare will direct the series, alongside assistant director Masahiko Otsuka and creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi.
“I’ve always loved cyberpunk as a genre, but always found it difficult to create as an original work,” said Imaishi. “This is why I’m very excited to be working with CD Projekt Red on this project. It won’t be easy to please both game and anime fans, but I love a challenge.”
After a recently announced delay, CD Projekt Red will launch Cyberpunk 2077 on Nov. 19 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Players can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game for free. The multiplayer aspect of the game will arrive next year.
