But since Season 5 dropped in 2019, there’s been no news about Black Mirror Season 6. Will Black Mirror Season 6 happen? When will the dystopian science fiction series return to Netflix?
One of the biggest setbacks for the series is the catastrophic year we had in 2020. The pandemic and a charged election created chaos and discord across the world. Netflix also hasn’t officially renewed the series for another season, but they also haven’t canceled it yet either.
I would imagine that the earliest we would see a new season would be late 2022 or even early 2023. Per Screen Rant, Charlie Booker and co-showrunner Annabel Jones have produced the series through their company House of Tomorrow, which is part of Endemol Shine. The problem is, Endemol Shine still owns the rights to the series and they were recently purchased by the Banijay Group.
