It’s the least wonderful time of the year – aka those 12 days when the Big Red Streaming Monolith reveals what films and television shows it’s giving the boot. Thankfully, Netflix is being kind to us at the start of the new year by not killing off too many movies with its latest announcement. Maybe they know we’ll be spending January nursing a month-long hangover from NYE, immediately feeling the disappointment of already failing our resolutions two weeks in and hiding away from single-digit temperatures.
Anyways, critically acclaimed dramas like Cloud Atlas, Shutter Island and Mystic River will all head elsewhere along with some excellent indie gems you should catch before it’s too late – like Snowpiercer, A Ghost Story and The Bling Ring. Plus, the Twilight saga will have sparkle elsewhere after Jan. 15 – which is actually a welcome development, I’d say. Oh no, how else will I watch the vampire baseball scene from the first movie, more popularly known as the best comedy of 2008!
