The body of Yellowstone Season Four isn’t even cold yet, but when you only roll out 10 episodes at a time, you can’t blame viewers for wanting more. The Season Four premiere locked in nearly 15 million viewers, putting it in the same territory as massive past hits like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead. On top of that, Paramount has given the thumbs up to a prequel, a spinoff, and two other shows from creator Taylor Sheridan.
In a recently unearthed happy hour interview with HALL Wines from last March, Cole Hauser (who fans will recognize as Rip) jumps into the questions with more than a couple teasers about the still-pending Season Five, including when it will be filmed, and potentially what fans of Yellowstone can come to expect from the season tentatively slated for next year. Interviewer Kathryn Walt Hall asks Hauser about getting back to Montana and jumping into work, to which Hauser responds, Taylor is working on it right now, and I think we’ll be back some time in July. Confirming that he was talking about Season Five and not Four, Hauser continues, saying, Season Five is going to be wonderful.
Specifically, he name drops Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, and Gil Birmingham, and while that’s no hard confirmation, it’s a good sign for what’s to come. But as we know with the Duttons, nothing stays comfortable forever. Just ask Piper Perabo.

The fourth season of the Paramount show smashed its previous rating records, with the premiere drawing in 10.5 million viewers, so it’s no wonder another season is on the horizon. Who will be in the cast of Yellowstone season 5? Those who’ve seen the last few episodes of Yellowstone will be aware that not everyone in the cast will be able to return for a fifth season.
Kevin Costner is likely to return as John Dutton, the head of the family and the ranch’s long-suffering protector, while other family members are likely to reprise their key roles, including Kelly Reilly (Britannia) as John’s daughter, Beth, a ruthless financier who struggles with substance abuse issues. Luke Grimes is also likely to return as John’s youngest son, Kayce. We can expect the cast to be rounded out by Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler, Kelsey Asbille as Monica Long Dutton, Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton, Jefferson White as Jimmy Hurdstrom, Gil Birmingham as Chief Thomas Rainwater, Forrie J Smith as Lloyd Pierce, Denim Richards as Colby Mayfield, Ian Bohen as Ryan, Ryan Bingham as Walker and Finn Little as Carter. However, fans still have a number of questions we hope the fifth season will answer, including what Kayce’s apocalyptic vision might mean for the future of the ranch, whether Jimmy and Emily are leaving the show for the 6666 spinoff, as well as what on earth is in store for Beth Dutton. But with nothing confirmed as yet about the fifth season’s plot, fans will have to stay tuned for more plot details.

What Network Has Been Slow In Renewing The Series For Season 5?
By this time last year, we already knew that Yellowstone was coming back for another season. Now, as the Paramount show comes to the end of its current season, the network has not yet renewed the series for Season 5. While other cable shows tend to lose viewers every year, Yellowstone actually gained millions of fans this year.
Though Paramount has been slow in renewing the series, the answer is almost certainly. This is not just guesswork based on the fact that Yellowstone is officially the most-watched show on cable: A star of the show also seemed to confirm the series is coming back for Season 5 in an interview. In October, a fan posted images from the Montana ranch where much of the show is filmed that showed the area cordoned off with signs featuring the Yellowstone Y logo, suggesting filming is underway.
The lack of renewal may also be down to the changing TV landscape. When will Yellowstone Season 5 be out? Though of course we do not have an official release date for Season 5, we can make an estimate based on when filming is set to begin.
The original post revealed that the ranch was available to rent in the summer due to filming being delayed. Why filming was delayed was not revealed – though creator Taylor Sheridan has a lot of his plate juggling the filming of Yellowstone, its two spin-offs and fellow Paramount+ show Mayor of Kingstown.

Season 4 continues to keep viewers invested as the Dutton family deaths with the aftermath of the attacks on their lives. After John, Beth (Kelly Reilly), and Kayce (Luke Grimes) survived the assassination attempts that closed out the third season, Rip (Cole Hauser) went after Roarke (Josh Holloway) while John (Kevin Costner) and Kayce hunted down the hit squads that were sent after them. Tensions in the family further solidified as Jamie (Wes Bentley), already under suspicion by both John and Beth, discovered that the organizer of the hits on the Dutton family was a former cellmate of his biological father, Garrett Randle (Will Patton).
A shootout at a diner also leads to the death of the Sheriff, despite John and Rip’s best efforts to kill the robbers first. With the show’s fourth season winding to a close, fans have been eager to know what Sheridan and the show’s writers and performers have up their sleeve for Season 5. Here’s what we know so far about what’s next for Yellowstone.
