Jeans are a basic (and essential) part of any wardrobe. Everyone even has their favourite pants or shorts, but as time goes on we find ourselves forced to retire them.
However, this is not always really necessary. With some customization tips, you can give your jeans new life and continue wearing your favorite piece for many years.
Are you curious yet? Then continue reading!
1- Paint your jeans
Did you ever think that reforming your jeans could be so simple and quick? That idea is so easy that even those who are not very familiar with cutting and sewing can do it.
Just use a stencil with a standard figure (you can produce it on cardboard or cardboard, in heart shape, rhombus, little balls and much more).
Then just apply a fabric paint with a brush and that’s it. Just be careful to leave a more or less standard space between each figure.
2- Wear beads on the bar
The trouser bars are trendy – and you can take the opportunity to “up” your jeans by taking care of this detail.
This is a very nice idea and you can either sew the beads, making a kind of embroidery, or glue them with hot glue or fabric.
Besides the jeans, you can wear the same idea on a shorts and even a jeans skirt.
3- Apply income
Did your jeans rip? Can’t you stand that “basic” and dull model anymore?
Lace can be a great ally at this time, helping to give your pants, skirt or shorts a new look, besides being elegant and timeless.
You can make small or large applications (like this one in the image), sewing the lace, or even gluing the fabric on the jeans.
4- Modify your jeans jacket
The jeans jacket is that basic piece, which goes in and out of fashion frequently. But that doesn’t mean you need to get rid of your older model.
One way to give a remodeled jacket of past seasons is by making an application of strass, sequins, buttons and other accessories.
Again it is possible both to sew these items (in a kind of embroidery) and to glue them with specific glue.
5- Apply tacks
Rock’n’roll style with a more urban footprint is on the rise in the world of jeanswear and you can reform your old shorts to enter this trend.
You can use different tacks to build figures or simply give an extra “grace” in some detail, like in your pockets.
Finish this customization by wearing the jeans to give an idea of destroyed and leave it even more in fashion.
6- Make lashings
Another detail that is on the rise in jeanswear are the lashings, in various pieces and with various materials.
You can use this inspiration on skirts, shorts, pants and even jeans shirts, with varied materials.
If you want to make your jeans more exquisite, use leather in the mooring. For more urban parts, prefer nylon.
7- Apply patches
If you are more attuned to the world of fashion, you may have noticed that jeans in stores are full of varied patches.
Yeah, getting into that fashion is very simple (and very cheap). Just buy these patches in bazaars and apply them to the piece to be customized.
Two types of patches can be found: thermocolating (which are applied with the heat of the iron) and sewing.
8- Create an asymmetric bar
Another super strong trend in the world of jeanswear are the asymmetric bars, those of different size at the front and back.
The good news is that they are also very easy to make and able to leave any more “old-fashioned” jeans with a new face.
Just unstitch the bar and make the clippings. Since the destroyed bars are also on the rise, you don’t even have to worry about sewing them back on.
9- Apply pearls
The pearls and minipearls are also incredible options to customize shorts, skirts or pants, leaving the pieces much more exquisite.
You can use either a few spaced pearls on the body of the piece, or make richer designs around the pockets or on the waistband.
The important thing is to unleash your imagination and leave your jeans according to your personality and style.
10- Apply fabrics
For those who already have a little more knowledge in cutting and sewing, this idea is super cool.
Choose a fabric that matches the piece and add it to your jeans, increasing the size of the bar or totally modifying the model.
