What blood pressure depends on
The vascular system it is made up of the set of blood vessels that run through the body. Blood circulates within vessels at a certain pressure, which depends on various factors. On average, the aortic pressure is 85 mmHg, while the pressure in the vena cava near the heart is very close to zero. Thus a pressure gradient virtually identical to mean arterial pressure which allows blood to flow into blood vessels. To allow all organs and tissues to receive an adequate supply of blood – and consequently of oxygen and nutrients – the mean arterial pressure must be kept constant. There are therefore gods regulatory mechanisms which work in the short and long term so that the pressure values do not deviate too much from the average values. The regolation short term, for example, it involves the baroceptive reflex. When the baroreceptors (neurosensory receptors found in blood vessels and in the heart) detect a change in mean arterial pressure, they send the information to the cardiovascular control center which in turn makes the necessary changes to restore pressure. The action basically takes place by modulating the contraction of the heart and the volume of blood pumped by it and regulating the resistance of the blood vessels. If the pressure remains low for some time, other mechanisms involving the kidneys intervene to regulate it in the long term.
What is low blood pressure
We talk about hypotension o low blood pressure when the average arterial pressure is less than 85mm / Hg or when, when measuring the pressure with the sphingomanometer, values that do not exceed 90/60 mmHg are obtained. In some people, low blood pressure is physiological and has no particular health consequences. In general, however, when the pressure is lowered, some organs or tissues risk not receiving enough blood and, since this can cause the organism significant damage, the body immediately intervenes to bring blood pressure back to normal levels in a short time. THE symptoms of a drop in blood pressure include fatigue, weakness, dizziness and lack of energy. On the other hand, when the drop in pressure occurs in an abrupt and important way, there is instead dizziness, blurred vision and fainting. But because the pressure drops? Sometimes blood pressure drops as a result of bleeding, alcohol abuse, medical conditions, or taking medications. In these cases, or if the symptoms are severe and last over time, it is advisable to contact a doctor to investigate the causes and decide how to intervene. In other cases it may happen that the pressure is lower than usual during particularly hot days, due to the vasodilation resulting from high temperatures. Those who suffer from low blood pressure in the summer can also experience excessive sweating, swelling in the legs and water retention. Often women suffer from drops in blood pressure during their menstrual cycle. When low blood pressure occurs sporadically, it is possible to intervene thanks to natural remedies.
Natural remedies
A help to counteract low blood pressure and lack of energy is given by natural remedies from thetonic action such as coffee, green tea, ginseng, chocolate, guarana and mate or maté. These are plants capable of acting on pressure that also have a stimulating effect on the central nervous system, counteracting excessive fatigue and lack of concentration. In addition to drinks, many of these remedies are available in the form of dietary supplements, such as ginseng, guarana and green tea. However, it is better not to abuse these substances if you suffer from insomnia, anxiety and nervousness, as the excessive use of stimulant remedies could worsen these conditions.
Another particularly well-known and effective remedy for its action on pressure is the licorice root, taken in herbal tea or even in the form of candies obtained with pure licorice juice. The side effect of prolonged or excessive use of licorice is water retention. People who are sensitive to the action of central nervous system stimulants or who suffer from water retention, instead of resorting to tonic remedies or licorice, can use the Rosemary, in herbal tea or mother tincture, for a tonic action without side effects.
To keep blood pressure at optimal levels, for example during particularly hot days, it is also advisable to hydrate constantly and provide the body with the right amount of minerals and vitamins through the regular consumption of large portions of fresh fruit and vegetables. The mineral deficiency that can occur due to excessive sweating can also be corrected thanks to the use of supplements or energy drinks containing magnesium and potassium, useful for example if you do sports. People who often suffer from low blood pressure for prolonged periods or with severe symptoms should seek medical attention to investigate the cause.
