For some the beach holidays have already begun, for others very little is missing: the common denominator? The desire to transgress at the table, without getting lost in difficult diets and mortifying restrictions. However, a few small tips can help us stay fit while still indulging in some treats, the best way to find the good mood.
The stress it is fought by eating: it is not a way of saying, because our diet greatly affects the delicate hormonal balance that is the basis of psychophysical well-being. And if too many sacrifices put us in a bad mood, a good anti-stress diet is ideal for regaining a smile. We talked about it with the Dr. Francesca Beretta, nutritionist biologist and author of the book Giù la belly … su il morale, which revealed some dietary advice to be adopted in the most delicate periods of our life.
When we are particularly stressed, it is good to avoid neurostimulating substances such as coffee and foods which, by releasing high levels of histamine, can increase inflammation in the body. Foods such as tomatoes, cured meats, cheeses, pizza, sweets and very salty foods fall into the latter category. Lactose may not be a good choice, especially for those who tend to suffer from intestinal bloating. Go ahead instead a fruit and vegetables, legumes and cereals: being rich in fiber, mineral salts and vitamins, they improve digestion and help you stay fit.
Protein is one of the most important nutrients to pay attention to when on a diet. They are the “bricks” of our body, fundamental constituents of the muscular system: a deficiency can lead to problems such as weakness, loss of muscle mass and even cognitive deficits. This is why it is essential to adopt a balanced diet, which includes an adequate portion of proteins, especially after the age of 50.
But what are the ideal foods to bring to the table? The dr. Luca Avoledo, biologist and nutritionist, as well as an expert in naturopathy at the Food Clinic in Milan, addressed this topic, highlighting the various types of protein sources from which we can draw. Those of animal origin they are usually of higher quality, while the vegetable ones are considered of low biological value. In fact, proteins are not only present in meat, fish, eggs, milk and derivatives, but also in legumes, nuts, seeds, cereals and (to a lesser extent) fruit and vegetables.
Finally, with the Dr. Laura Giori, biologist nutritionist, we talked about the lightning diet. It is a low-calorie diet that allows us to lose up to 5 kg in a week, which provides two different ways: it is possible to consume only one food (or a single category) for the whole day, or adopt a varied diet and balanced. By providing the body with fewer calories than it needs, losing weight becomes much easier. If we then combine this diet with healthy physical activity, reaching the goal is no longer a mirage.
