Kate Middleton at Euro 2020: memorable blazer and despair with George
Kate Middleton will assume the role of patroness of the English Rugby Football Union (RFU) and the Rugby Football League (RFL), replacing Harry who with the Megxit can no longer have active positions in the Royal Family. And it seems that for him it was a hard blow.
After the rumor that Princess Anne will be promoted to Captain General of the Royal Marines, a post that at the death of Prince Philip would go to Harry, the second son of Charles and Diana, he loses another title and this time it concerns his commitment to sport, more field, together with the military one, which was particularly dear to him.
The Queen would have identified Kate Middleton as one more than worthy replacement for Harry. Former patron of Wimbledon and a number of associations such as the All England Lawn and Tennis Croquet Club, the Lawn Tennis Association, SportsAid and the 1851 Marine Trust which aims to educate young people through sport, the Duchess of Cambridge is a great sportswoman and has always followed sporting events well before marrying William. Therefore, he is the perfect figure for this role.
The replacement will certainly not please the brother-in-law who has also seen his military titles taken away, a renunciation that has so irritated him that he takes revenge on the Crown with the vitriolic interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Harry received the England Rugby Football Union honorary position in 2016 from his grandmother Elizabeth who had held that title for 64 years and became patron of the Rugby Football League in 2017. Losing positions after Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed last February that they would not be returning to serve the Monarchy as senior members of the Royal Family. For Buckingham Palace their decision meant, as the Daily Mail reports, “it is not possible to carry on with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.”
The official document drawn up following the Megxit read: “The honorary military posts and royal patrons held by the Duke and Duchess will then be returned to Her Majesty, before being redistributed among the active members of the Royal Family. While everyone is saddened by their decision, the duke and duchess remain much loved members of the family ”.
The consequences of Harry and Meghan’s gesture are now materializing. The Prince has been stripped of all his offices and titles, a sacrifice that seems to have cost him a lot. Many of the sports associations of which he was patron immediately greeted him and thanked him. And now that he sees himself replaced by Kate Middleton, the reaction could be explosive. Biting new revelations are feared.
