There are stories that deserve to be told because they are beautiful and real in their simplicity as they only know how to be. Maybe it’s because, even if we find it hard to admit it, we all like the happy ending, especially when it is full of love. And that of Silvia and Assunta is, a happy ending, or maybe it’s a happy beginning.
The two young Lucanian women smile in front of the camera that immortalizes theirs through a snapshot promise of love. We cannot see their lips which are covered by the masks, but their eyes cannot lie and they transmit everything to us enthusiasm and joy of such an important moment for them, and for everyone.
Silvia and Assunta got married and they did on June 9 in Miglionico. The small Italian town in the province of Matera celebrated his own with the two women first civil union.
A first time that makes everyone happy, but above all the municipal council. Because it is a very important step towards the recognition of equal rights towards all people. This marriage proves it.
To share the good news was the Facebook page of the municipality of Miglionico through a photograph that portrays the two young women together with the mayor of the city Franco Comanda.
“Today the first civil union was celebrated in Miglionico Best wishes to Silvia and Assunta! We wish you a life of happiness and lots of love “, reads the caption of the photograph published on Facebook, under which hundreds of likes and comments have supported, and virtually celebrated, theunion of the two girls.
Because that of civil unions is an important milestone for people, which was reached only after years of long and troubled battles and struggles which, however, finally saw a happy ending with the Cirinnà law. Thanks to this, in fact, our country has overcome the conception of the traditional family by officially recognizing the civil union, and regulating de facto coexistence.
In 2015, the Municipality of Miglionico was the first to launch the register of civil unions in the province of Matera to begin a path of inclusion and equal opportunities. After more than 5 years, today, Silvia and Assunta have been able to take advantage of this, and thus crown their dream. We just have to do our best wishes!
