It’s a crisis for heels: the pandemic, with the consequent and necessary closures, has meant that in 2020 their sales have been significantly reduced.
Heeled shoes: it’s a crisis
Canceled ceremonies, distance degrees, online events, work from home and so on and so forth: the Covid-19 pandemic affects the whole world enormously.
There are many sectors that have – and are still strongly affected – by all the consequences necessary to stem the virus. We talk about lockdowns, confinements, entire closed or limited sectors.
In the fashion sector, shoes with heels were the most affected. To be the master during 2020 was the home environment, in which the comfort. Overalls, soft slippers, sports shoes were in fact the must-haves of the period.
Certainly not shoes with heels, generally reserved for social occasions, important, work commitments or in any case for situations outside the walls of the house.
In fact, their sales have drastically decreased and hopefully this will not last long.
For those who have adapted to the comfort of slippers, a good alternative can be shoes with low and wide heels, super comfortable.
What will the future be?
We are now wondering about the future of the heeled footwear market. The main question is: will they come back as they used to or the comfort that has prevailed in recent months will continue? Low-to-the-ground footwear such as moccasins will be preferred or the charm of the heel will return.
To date, the answer is not yet known and to see the general trend in sales one will have to wait months, if not years, depending on the evolution of the pandemic.
What is certain is that heeled shoes always keep their charm and there was no shortage of fashion shows to present the future fashion seasons, first of all autumn winter 2021-2022.
The hope is to be able to rreturn to pre-pandemic sales, hoping for a return to the much desired normality, in which to be able to go out, move, participate in activities outside the home.
